Mother’s Day Card

The process of creating this greeting card began when I made a much more personalized Mother’s Day card for my mother years ago. Later, I revisited the original design and refined it into a greeting card style. For the original concept, I specifically learned how to draw peonies, my mother’s favorite flower. Transitioning from the pixel art I created in Procreate to the vector image in Adobe Illustrator was relatively straightforward, although recoloring the flowers proved challenging due to the many intricate lines and the fact that the flowers were not originally drawn with this purpose in mind.

I retained the blue from the original card but added the green envelope and background later. To frame the text, I arranged the flowers into a layout that suited the horizontal and vertical versions separately, allowing the framing to be organic in shape and alternating different shades of blue as well as flower sizes to enhance contrast.
